Welcome to Bridges - A Community Support System
Since 1957, Bridges' mental health and addiction recovery programs and services have helped adults, children and families move toward healing, recovery and renewal.
Bridges is unique in its ability to offer care and treatment for the whole family, children and adults, in the same location, which can make it easier to access services and afford better outcomes for all.
As the state-designated Local Mental Health Authority for Milford, Orange and West Haven, Bridges offers recovery-focused services to support individuals with severe and prolonged mental illness and addiction problems.
Several of our programs extend to serve residents of the surrounding communities of Ansonia, Bethany, Derby, Seymour, Shelton, and Woodbridge ... [ more ]
What's New at Bridges
If you have felt the anguish of a loved one's experience with a disabling mental illness, or drug or alcohol addiction, you are not alone. In 2016, one in five of our family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, or, ourselves had a diagnosable mental health disorder. One in ten deaths among working adults in the United States are due to alcohol misuse. Suicide rates are at a 30 year high, with the greatest increase in suicides among middle-age adults. Every 13 minutes someone dies by suicide in the United States.
These statistics are alarming, but you can help change them, right here in our community.
When someone you know needs help, Bridges is here to offer treatment and support. With the right care, people can recover and renew their life. But we desperately need your help to make that happen. Please consider making a gift to Bridges' Annual Fund, so we can continue to be there for all of those who come to our doors during their most vulnerable and difficult times.
Each year, Bridges helps thousands of adults, children and families, and young adults with a range of problems, from serious and chronic mental illnesses to short term emotional or behavioral disorders. Last year, we provided direct services to 1,935 individuals, including 477 children. [ more ]
